Children's English Circle (CEC)

Time: 3:00-5:00pm

  Children's English Circle invites non-Japanese volunteers to practice speaking English with our bilingual students, between 6 and 11 years old, who have lived in English speaking countries. CEC provides an environment that supports their level of fluency.
   Please join us in an afternoon of discovery and cultural exchange using the English language with 15 returnee Japanese bilingual school children.  Each week CEC features a different subject with unexpected results. Come and share your language abilities with this class of talented children. 

As of April, participating students have been excited to practice English with the new CEC curriculum. Non Japanese volunteers have offered classes of art, science, literature, poetry, geometry, drama, letters, music.
The children have responded enthusiastically with a keen desire to learn. They have shown wide knowledge and facility in English as well as other diverse fields. Japanese university students would be impressed to see how the children participate in English!















 

EC maintains a library and we are encouraging the children to read books to improve English vocabularies and furthermore comprehension and thinking. CEC is now aiming not only to maintain the children’s English but to improve it. Non Japanese volunteers cooperation and participation by reading books together with the children and talking to them will be most welcome.

   
 

In July we had classes with music, art on Van Gogh and cooking.
